Beginner’s Golf Lesson: Shoes/Apparel?

(I’ve made the mistake of overdoing it before a few times, like when I went on safari totally dressed for the part while everyone else was in regular tennis shoes and plain leisure clothes. I should point out that my golf shoes are not very over-the-top anyway. They look like regular puma tennis shoes but the sole is different. Anyway, just thought I’d throw that in.

Getting golf lessons?

Me and my dad are wanting to take golf lessons, and there is a new place about 5 minutes from my house that just opened about a month ago. This place is offering lessons and club fitting, but I’m afraid they might not be good teachers or are bad at fitting are clubs, which is pretty expensive.

They don’t have a website, I found their ad on craigslist and it just says what they offer, but not if they are certified or what not. I’m pretty sure this place teaches inside.

Am I over thinking this, and any golf instructor and fitter should be ok?

I’m also afraid it might turn into a disaster since my dad doesn’t really speak english, should he just try it out and see?
