Will getting golf lessons change my club fitting information? Will I still be 2*upright?

Okay, I just started getting lessons. I have a club fitting on Friday for new clubs. Will my “fitting” needs change as my swing (hopefully) improves? Or once 2* upright, always 2* upright?

It depends. Most teachers will try to maximize what you currently have, swing-wise, instead of tearing it all down and starting over- most of us “weekend warriors” don’t have the time to devote to such undertakings.
That said, there’s also the body type issue. If you’re fitted and on the cusp of a certain lie setting (say, either 1* or 2* upright), your swing plane may be the determining factor- a more upright swing means more upright angle, and vice-verse. So you’re at 2* now, but if you were to rebuild your swing with a flatter plane, theoretically you could change to a 1* or even “standard” lie angle. It’s unlikely (not a knock- what you currently have is always better than what might be, because of the uncertainty that might provide), but still possible.

You need to reschedule your fitting if you plan on making any serious changes to your swing. Stance position, hand posiotion, and angle of attack make a big difference.. Waiting a week won’t matter that much and should help after lessons. Wait until your lessons then get fitted.

The club fitter will be changing your swing if you think that you think that you will definitely change as your swing if you think that you will be changing your fitting session.
