For guitar straps that have a string on one end, Do I have to use that or will the hole fit around the peg?

hole in one
milly asked:

I want to buy a Martin guitar strap online, and I noticed it has a string on one end of the strap. I don’t yet own a guitar strap and was wondering if that meant I have to use the string or will the hole that the string is attached to fit around the peg already installed on my guitar to hold a strap?

The string is in case there isn’t a peg on the neck side of the guitar. If your guitar has that peg, use the hole in the strap.

The strings before the first strap mounted this way most electric guitars have pegs on the guitar may only have pegs on each end of your guitar mine does too yet have pegs on each end of end of.
