How much should I tip a golf pro for lessons?

Drew asked:

I’ve signed up for a series of 7 lessons with a golf pro (3 @ one hour, and 4 @ a half hour). The cost is only $200. I was wondering… How much should I tip? Also, should the tip be given at the end of each lesson, or should I lump 20% of the 7 lesson package cost and give it out after the first lesson, or last lesson? I’m clueless, help!

Golf Tournament Hole Signs - Tips To Make An Effective Mark

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

Abhishek Agarwal asked:

In case you are planning to organize a golf tournament, you sure will be considering what kind of a hole sign should be used. Most of the special tournaments choose one specific type of hole sign that signifies the tournament. Most of the golf tournament let their sponsors put their logo on to the tournament hole sign. This will be an awesome advertisement for the company that needs to gain the attention of the masses from the event.

You will have to talk to the tournament manager in case you are a company that is looking for some form of advertisement and want to use this opportunity to gain some momentum by advertising your company by putting your company logo on the hole sign.

In case you are in charge of choosing the hole sign for the tournament that is coming up, there are many options that you can choose from, and many resources will assist you in succeeding in this quest. Before you choose the sign, you need to contact the manager to know what his requirements are. You should not end up in a place where you will place the orders for a different pole and you learn that it is not the one that has to be chosen. It is important that you also learn the dimensions that need to be given to the hole sign.

Once the specifications are confirmed, you can go shopping for the hole signs and select what is required. There are companies that are available that take up the job of supplying these items for the tournaments. Most of them have catalogs that you can flip around and get a hang of the different sizes, shapes and colors. There are even some companies that give you a sample of what you need. This is just to make sure that you know what you will get for the order that you have placed.

The type of tournament you are conducting does not matter, the different hole signs will still remain an important feature in a golf tournament. So, it is very important that you choose the proper hole sign for the given tournament. Buy this from a place that has experience in this field. There are also websites online that give you a proper idea as to what hole sign can be installed in this tournament. The hole signs purchased online are directly shipped to your location.

Kitchen sink broke and can’t find one that fits in the hole in the granite countertop. Any ideas?

mullinsbrendan asked:

I have a kitchen sink that is 30″ x 21″. It recently broke and I need to replace it. However, it is not a standard size sink and I cannot find one that fits in the hole. The counter top is granite so I do not think I can widen the hole so I need to either find a unique size sink or somehow make the hole bigger. Can someone help me with this? The hole that is in the counter is 27″ x 19″.

What kind of golf clubs should I get as a beginner?

sputs10soccer asked:

I am trying to get into golf now that I have more time away from work and some money to afford new clubs and green fees. I played in the past, but not even close to good. Just played because it was fun. Now, I am going to take lessons and try to become reasonably good, so I want to get clubs that will be good to learn with, but also be clubs that I will have for a few years. My bro-in-law recommended the new Callaway Clubs, so any info on those clubs would be greatly appreciated, or any ideas for my club selection would also be greatly appreciated!

Holes in the Ozone Layer

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Ernie Fitzpatrick asked:

Variations in temperature and pressure divide the earths atmosphere into layers. We need this ozone layer(s) to keep out the harmful solar radiation rays. Ozone depletion describes two distinct, but related observations: a slow, steady decline of about 4 percent per decade in the total amount of ozone in Earth’s stratosphere since the late 1970s; and a much larger, but seasonal, decrease in stratospheric ozone over Earth’s polar regions during the same period. And?

If, and that’s a pretty big IF, we’re facing a 40% increase in average sun spot activity in the next peak (can you say 2012?), then we need as much protection as we can have; however, there are some grave concerns. Scientists are seeing major cracks, gaping holes in the earth’s magnetic field, anywhere from a few hours to months. In fact, there South Atlantic 100,000 mile crack is more than alarming.

The crack opens up between Brazil and South Africa and has caused great concerns with NASA.

Several statllites passing through this “crack” have been damaged already by solar outbursts that easily penetrate. With such infrequent anomolies few will notice until our power grids are affected (and they will be) nd we lose power. Those who have just experienced hurricane Ike know what the loss of power can mean.

There is also a hole in the staratospheric ozone layer over the Antartica, just a few degrees south of the South American crack. God forbid the two become one. The suns UV rays go where the ozone layer is thin or non-existant. It’s obvious to those scientists who have the most insight and technical information (can you say those who know what they’re talking about?) are sounding a siren. The message is that things are changing and none for the better.

So, I ask. Are we going to to keep ignoring the deeper truths and realities of life, stick our proverbial heads in the sand an concentrate on the Dow stock market, or are we going to become a bit more instrospective, contemplative, and spiritual about life. We have a choice. We have choices.

Best we refocus now, while we can.
